In a controlled first half performance, Guisborough created plenty of chances and came closest top opening the scoring when a Lewis Mitchell header forced the Staithes keeper into making an exceptional save.

What an exciting half the second period proved to be for a neutral!

Two tidy finishes from Jacob Midgley and Liam Fox put Staithes in the driving seat, and meant that Guisborough were facing down the barrel of a third straight defeat. That was further compounded by a missed Guisborough penalty!

Guisborough kept to the task at hand though, and found a way back into the game when Jordan Fry pulled one back with a stunning long range effort in the 68th minute.

It took just another four minutes for The Priorymen to pull level when Mitchell was played through to slot home.

The game then became an end-to-end affair as both sides looked for a winner and with two minutes left to play, Guisborough were awarded a penalty that Ryan Breeze converted to secure the three points.
