Guisborough Ladies travelled to Linthorpe Academicals for a top of the table clash.

To start the first half, Guisborough controlled the game playing some good football at times. It took a while to break down the strong Linthorpe defence but Scarlett Hames (sponsored by Shorty’s Gins) got herself on the scoresheet again with a nice finish to the right of the keeper. Just before half time, a lapse in concentration at the back allowed Linthorpe in for their first chance of the game which they dispatched well to equalise.

In the second half, the game opened up with both teams creating chances. However, as the game neared 90 minutes, Guisborough were really pushing for the win with second half substitutes Alex Barry and Ellie Todd (sponsored by Manius IT Systems) causing the Linthorpe defence problems. The persistence paid off when Guisborough won a free kick on the edge of the box with minutes to spare. Up stepped Chelsea Bell (sponsored by Mark Talbot Plastering and Tiling) who perfectly placed the free kick into the right corner of the net to send Guisborough top of the league.
