Match Report

Guisborough travelled to Northallerton on Sunday in hope of keeping hold of their spot at the top of the league. Guisborough started well and created plenty of chances. It only took 10 minutes to break the deadlock when Mac (sponsored by Cleveland Plastering Services) played Becca Andrew (sponsored by Mark Talbot Plastering and Tiling) through one on one to calmly slot it past the keeper.

It wasn’t long after when Mac got herself on the scoresheet with a low shot sneaking under the goalkeeper into the bottom corner, assisted by Emma Walton. Minutes after, roles reversed when Emma made it 3 with a first time finish after a great run by Mac. Not long before half time, Northallerton broke the Guisborough defence down to pull one back.

Against the wind this half, Guisborough were still creating chances but the game was opening up. A new look centre back pairing of Alannah Inglis (sponsored by Storm Scaffolding Whitby) and AJ Lucas (sponsored by C & J Lucas Decorator’s) stood firm with whatever was thrown at them.

When Northallerton were building momentum, first half substitute Adela Lewis (sponsored by Kryptic Management) worked tirelessly and was gutsy in her tackles to help relieve the pressure. Although Guisborough had plenty of chances to put the game to bed, it was Northallerton who got the only goal of the half minutes from the end. This made for a nervy ending but Guisborough held out for the overall deserved win. Special mention to stand in player manager Rachel Dimmick who put a shift in both on and off the pitch.
