Code of Conduct for Coaches, Team Managers and Club Officials

Play your part and observe the Code of Conduct for coaches, team managers and Club officials at all times. Only people with an FA DBS is permitted to coach for a team and this person must be added to the FA Whole Game System by the Club Secretary prior to them coaching.

I will:

  • Show respect to others involved in the game including match officials, opposition players, coaches, managers, officials and spectators
  • Adhere to the Laws of the Game
  • Display and promote high standards of behaviour
  • Always respect the match officials’ decisions
  • Never enter the field of play without the referee’s permission
  • Never engage in public criticism of the match officials
  • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour any pay any fines that may be issued if my behaviour was ever deemed inappropriate
  • Comply with all regulations set by my Club and The Football Association regarding Covid-19 and ensure that all present at my sessions or matches are also compliant

When working with players, I will:

  • Place the well-being, safety and enjoyment of each player above everything, including winning
  • Explain exactly what I expect of players and what they can expect from me
  • Ensure the parents/carers of all players under the age of 18 understand these expectations
  • Refrain from, and refuse to tolerate any form of bullying and/or abuse
  • Refrain from taking part in any session as a playing member with children under 16
  • Develop mutual trust and respect with every player to build their self-esteem
  • Encourage each player to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance
  • Ensure all activities I organise are appropriate for the players’ ability level, experience, age and maturity
  • Report any concerns regarding the welfare of any person at the Club to the Club Welfare Officer, County FA Safeguarding Lead or through the FA Whistleblowing policy
  • Co-operate fully with others in football (e.g. officials, doctors, physiotherapists, welfare officers) for each player’s best interests
  • Uphold the CORE values of GTFC
  • Ensure that no person is involved in coaching the team or in contact with any players where they are not a named coach or they do not hold an FA DBS

I understand that if I do not follow The Code, any/all of the following actions may be taken by my Club, the appropriate league or County FA. I may:

  • Be required to apologise to my team, parents and/or any other person at the Club
  • Receive a formal warning from the Club, League and/or County FA
  • Be required to attend a disciplinary hearing with the Club, League and/or County FA
  • Be suspended from attending matches and/or training
  • Be required to leave the Club

In addition:

  • My Club, may make the appropriate league or County FA aware of any infringements of The Code of Conduct
  • County FA could impose a fine and suspension against my Club/me and I would be responsible for paying that fine
