Match Report
Guisborough Ladies started their league campaign at the KGV against York R.I. Ladies Reserves. From kick off it was a dominant display by the home team, playing some great football and creating some good chances that they just failed to put away.
A good move down the right released Ebony Mcdermottroe into the penalty area. Still with a lot to do, she kept calm and, with a jinking run, took on 3 defenders before slotting the ball home. 1-0 Guisborough. Guisborough kept the high-tempo football going, and after a flowing move that started from the keeper, Elen Williams through ball sliced open the York defence to find Ebony, who once again found the back of the net. York managed to get an attack of their own just before halftime with a teasing cross that took an unfortunate deflection off a Guisborough defender, which ended up in the back of the net.
York came out in the 2nd half buoyed by their goal before halftime, and some sloppy play by Guisborough gave them a few half chances. However, it was Guisborough who found the net again with a great through ball, finding Anna Trainor, who went one on one with the keeper and slotted it home. Guisborough gained control of the game again, and it wasn’t long before another through ball found Alexis, who rounded the keeper and tucked it away. Another well-worked move found Rachel Dimmick on the edge of the box.
Her effort cannoned off the post and into the path of Amelia Lucus, who finished into the top corner. Guisborough kept pressing, and Ellie Todd was sent clear into the box, and she made no mistake, placing her finish over the keeper and into the net.
