Guisborough Town Ladies finally got underway in 2026 with a top-of-the-table clash against Evolution Ladies.

Guisborough knew this would be a tough game having lost in the reverse fixture, and game started fairly evenly with not many clear-cut chances from either team.

Guisborough then came close with two one-on-one’s by Gracie McLoughlin (sponsored by Whitby Coastal Cruises) and Scarlett Hames (sponsored by Croft Rigging & Lifting Ltd) but both shot just wide, as well as a long range effort from Macey Lyons that the visiting keeper parried.

Guisborough finally made their efforts pay on the stroke of half time when Hames had a shot blocked and McLoughlin nicked the ball to go one-on-one with the keeper and slot home.

The second half saw Evolution push and having a little more luck but Guisborough’s whole back line and Maddie McCormick in goal worked tirelessly to keep them out as well as the crossbar coming to Guisborough’s aid twice from a corner. It took a fierce strike from the edge of the area to get an equaliser.

Guisborough didn’t let this phase them and played some great football to put the pressure back on Evolution. Chelsea Bell (sponsored by Harbie’s Gas Plumbing and Heating Services) came close with a free kick that landed on top of the net.

Finally, Guisborough were back on top when Paige Davis (sponsored by Laura’s Sparkle and Shine) neatly finished into the corner from a Rebecca Andrew (sponsored by Glow and Grow) through ball.
