Match Report

A week of rain had left the pitch in poor condition but Guisborough coped well and spent most of the first period in the Wigginton half.

The deadlock was broken with a ball over the top from Chelsea Bell (sponsored by Harbie’s Gas Plumbing and Heating Services) that was met by Gracie McLoughlin (sponsored by Whitby Coastal Cruises) who lobbed the keeper.

Although it was all Guisborough, it wasn’t until just before half time that the lead was doubled. A Rebecca Andrew (sponsored by Glow and Grow) corner met by Chelsea to hit it into the net.

Wigginton came out of the blocks at the start of the second half, attacking Guisborough and having a couple of chances. The back line stood firm though, including a goal line clearance from Emma Walton (sponsored by Andrew & Amy Bell).

Against the run of play, Guisborough then made it 3-0 from another Andrew corner that McLoughlin headed home.

This seemed to settle Guisborough again and the rest of the half was very much like the first. Connie Robinson (sponsored by Robinsons Landscaping Teesside) topped off the day when Scarlett Hames (sponsored by Croft Rigging & Lifting Ltd) crossed the ball to the far post which Robinson brought down, went past the defender and slotted it into the bottom corner.
