Reserves edge out Redcar Town Reserves

Guisborough Town Reserves played Redcar Town Reserves on Saturday.

The game started off equally and at a fast pace with Redcar playing the more direct football. This led to the first real opportunity when the Guisborough defence got caught napping but Jeff Watson (sponsored by A Rees General House Maintenence) pulled of a great save to keep sides level. Some more confusion at the back led to a great chance for Redcar to take the lead but they couldn’t hit the target.

The second half Guisborough started to play some better football and were looking more dangerous with Ben Andrews (sponsored by Adam Whiles Personal Training) making the keeper work. Another great chance for Guisborough came and went when the striker couldn’t beat the keeper.

Then, a through ball caught the Redcar defence square and Josh Parker went one on one with the keeper and placed it into the corner of the net to make it 1-0.

Redcar pushed on and created a couple of great chances in their search for an equaliser but again Watson pulled of some great saves. The visitors levelled with a well worked move to make it 1-1.

Guisborough responded in the right way and created two good chances before another ball through found Parker again who rounded the keeper and put it away for 2-1 to Guisborough.

It was a nervous last ten minutes but Guisborough dug deep and got the win they deserved.
