Match Report
Six goal Guisborough defeat Northallerton
Northallerton Town Women 2, Guisborough Town Ladies 6
(North Riding Football League Women’s Premier Division)
Guisborough travelled to Northallerton on Sunday expecting a very hard and physical game, and despite carving out a couple of early chances, the Northallerton ‘keeper made some good saves. Then, a stunning strike from 25-yards out into the top corner meant Northallerton took the lead against the run of play.
For the next ten minutes, the home side piled the pressure on and could of had another goal but the ball flew narrowly past the post.
Guisborough started to settle back down and before long were level. A Chelsea Bell (sponsored by Harbie’s Gas Plumbing and Heating Services) free kick from deep in Guisborough’s own half left the defence square was lofted upfield and was met by a great run from Rebecca Andrew (sponsored by Glow and Grow) who headed over the keeper into the empty net.
Guisborough then created a hat full of great chances before a Gracie McLoughlin (sponsored by Whitby Coastal Cruises) cross for the fox-in-the-box Paige Davis (sponsored by Laura’s Sparkle and Shine) to tuck the ball away put the visitors in front.
The third goal came when Lyla Paisley (sponsored by TNT Fitness) played a great one-two with Ellie Evans (sponsored by Manius IT Systems) in the 18 yard box before Lyla cut inside the defender and fired home into the net.
Then, just before half time, Emma Walton played in Scarlett Hames (sponsored by Croft Rigging & Lifting ltd) down the right who hit an unbelievable rocket from 30-yards out into the top corner.
Half Time: Northallerton Town Women 1-4 Guisborough Town Ladies
The second half started as the first finished with Guisborough creating more great chances and could of had more goals before Gracie McLoughlin scored a quick fire double with the first breaking the offside trap to place home and the second, Davis knocking it back for her to rifle home.
Northallerton got a goal back which came via the penalty spot. Overall, a well deserved win for Guisborough with some great football played.
