Another Win for the Ladies

Guisborough welcomed Northallerton Town Women yesterday afternoon, hoping to extend their winning streak.

The game started flat and Northallerton took advantage of this, getting in behind to take an early lead, but the reaction from Guisborough couldn’t have been better, scoring almost instantly after with a ball over the top from Macey Lyons to Rebecca Andrew (sponsored by Glow and Grow) who lobbed the ball over the keeper into the net.

This sprung Guisborough into life and they’d soon turned the game around when Andrew played in Gracie McLoughlin (sponsored by Whitby Coastal Cruises) to finish neatly.

Not long after, McLoughlin won a free kick which Chelsea Bell (sponsored by Harbie’s Gas Plumbing and Heating Services) perfectly placed into the side netting.

Just before half time, Guisborough got their 4th from an Andrew corner which Paige Davis (sponsored by Laura’s Sparkle and Shine) brought down for Scarlett Hames (spondored by Croft Rigging & Lifting Ltd) to poke home.

Ten minutes into the second half saw Guisborough further extend their lead when a Davis through ball reached McLoughlin who put it away for her second of the game.

Northallerton’s strikers were persistent and battled all game, coming close when they hit the bar in the second half.

In the 68th minute, Davis got fouled on the edge of the box and up stepped Chelsea Bell to bury her second free kick of the game.

It was then Connie Robinson‘s (sponsored by Robinsons Landscaping Teesside) turn to get on the score sheet with her persistence paying off and finishing into an empty net, from a Paige Davis through ball.
