Match Report

Loss on the road for the Ladies

Guisborough travelled to Wigginton again on Sunday for the second game running.

Wigginton started the game the better side with most of the play being in the Guisborough half. They took advantage of this with a well worked throw that ended with Lauren Mallen on the corner of the box curling an effort into the net to make it 1-0.

Following this, it was fairly even and Guisborough’s best chances came from a couple of Rebecca Andrew (sponsored by Glow and Grow) corners that Gracie McLoughlin (sponsored by Whitby Coastal Cruises) came close to heading in both times.

But, it was from a Wigginton corner that made it 2-0 when it was half cleared and fell to Sophie Tomlinson who finished well.

More link up between Amdrew and McLoughlin just before half time saw a through ball to McLoughlin who fired just wide into the side netting.

The second half saw Guisborough dominate the ball much better and play in the Wigginton half. There were a few chances from distance and more opportunities from crosses including a pin point cross from Macey Lyons that McLoughlin met with her head but the keeper smartly saved.

But, Wigginton then hit Guisborough on the counter with a well taken goal, Debra Slater-Banford rounding the keeper to put it into the empty net.

More chances for Guisborough came and went, including another Andrew corner that was stopped on the line this time.
