Match Report

Guisborough Ladies made the short trip to Redcar Athletic and as always at Redcar, the wind played a factor in the game.

Guisborough played into the wind in the first half and Redcar, under new management, were very organised and came out battling. Guisborough had the majority of possession playing some great football and keeping the ball on the floor but without any real penetration.

The 2nd half was much the same with Redcar starting the better. Guisborough soon started to dominate the ball again but still couldn’t find that final pass. A few long shots were well saved by the Redcar goalkeeper. A well worked passing move finished with Ebony Mcdermottroe releasing Rebecca Andrew in on the angle only for her shot to be well saved again by the Redcar keeper.

With the game destined to end as a draw, up stepped Charlie Turner who had already tested the keeper not long before from distance. This time, let fly from 25 yards out with the ball flying over the goalkeeper into the net.

Finally 1-0 Guisborough. 1 minute later, the final whistle went. Redcar will feel hard done by as they made Guisborough work so hard to get this win.
