Guisborough Town Ladies hosted Richmond Town Women in their first league game of the season!

After a scrappy opening 20 minutes, Guisborough started to get the ball down and created a few half chances. First, a well struck shot from Rebecca Andrew (sponsored by Glow and Grow) was well saved.

Later in the half, a quick turn on the edge of the area and a bullet of a shot from Paige Davis (sponsored by Laura’s Sparkle and Shine) had the goalkeeper beaten but the ball crashed against the cross bar.

Guisborough had most of the play but couldn’t find a way through a battling Richmond defence.

The seecond half started slowly again for Guisborough, with the Ladies seeing plenty of the ball but with no real end product.

Paige Davis went close again but the deadlock was broken when Davis slotted a through ball through to Connie Robinson (sponsored by Robinsons Landscaping Teesside) who managed to get it past the keeper and fire into an empty net.

Guisborough kept pressing and had a few more shots before Andrews fed Davis down the right. She still had a lot to do but a jinking run into the box – beating a couple of defenders on her way – ended with her firing low past the keeper.

Guisborough created a couple more half chances with Lyla Paisley (sponsored by TNT Fitness) firing wide and Becky Thomas (sponsored by Furbd) heading over from a corner.
