Charity concert in aid of Great North Air Ambulance raises a magnificent £1,800 – and warm tributes to Gillian Wood

A charity concert in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance at the KGV Clubhouse the night before the West Auckland game was a rip-roaring success. Teesside band ‘The Cadillacs’ were on the stage thumping out their music and a great time was had by all.

Guisborough Town’s newly-appointed Club President Don Robinson was the main driving force behind the event as the Great North Air Ambulance is one of his favourite charities.

During the evening Guisborough Town’s new Vice Chairman Don Cowan paid the warmest of tributes to one of the club’s most hard-working, loyal and long-standing volunteers and Committee members, Gillian Wood.

Gillian or Gill as she is known has been connected with Guisborough Town for almost 40 years in a variety of roles over that time – in fact probably just about the only role she hasn’t played is out on the field!

Presenting her with a bouquet of flowers Don Cowan commented: “I can’t praise Gill highly enough for the marvellous support she has given to Guisborough Town over many, many years.

“Several generations of the Wood family have been strongly involved with the club down the years and Gill has kept that tradition going as a devoted and truly outstanding volunteer for the club,” added Don.
