GUISBOROUGH TOWN LEGEND GARY WOOD STEPS DOWN FROM MANAGERIAL ROLE AT CLUB
Gary Wood, legendary player at Guisborough Town and more recently Assistant Manager at the Club, has stepped down from his role due to increasing business and work commitments.
In his playing career at the KGV, Gary played almost 300 matches – many of them as team captain.
Over the seasons. Gary has become a huge favourite of supporters, fellow players, team management and senior officials of Guisborough Town.
He commented: “Guisborough Town is a club that means a huge amount to me, having played close to 300 games and captaining many of them.
“I’ve made some absolutely brilliant memories and friendships here at Guisborough Town over the years.
“Last season gave me another memorable highlight to add to my list of achievements at the Club.
“In my first year in team management at the Club, I was proud to support First Team Manager Nathan Haslam and the rest of our management team as we went on to win the Northern League title for the first time in Guisborough Town’s history and promotion to the Northern Premier League East Division.
“That was something unique that I was incredibly proud to have been a part of.
“There are many people I’d like to thank for supporting me over many years in my career at Guisborough Town, including the rest of the Management Team and the Club’s forward-thinking board.
“I would especially like to thank our Club Chairman Andy Bell, who is as driven and passionate about our beloved football club as anyone I’ve known here over the years.
“I really appreciate the support Andy has given me personally and I have no doubt whatsoever that the club will continue to move forward in the right direction with the drive of Andy and his Board behind him.
“I’d also like to give a special mention to all the fantastic volunteers behind the club, who give up so much of their own time in support of the Club.
“It’s people like Dennis Wheeler, Bill Perfitt and the two Dons – Robinson and Cowan – to name but a few – who are what makes Guisborough Town so special with their dedication and hard work, which often goes unseen.
“Perhaps more importantly and above all else, I’d like to wish Nathan and the other members of his Management Team every success for the future along with the brilliant set of players at the Club.”
Gary added that he would continue to get down to the KGV whenever he can.
“This certainly isn’t ‘goodbye’. I won’t be a stranger and I hope there will be opportunities for me to work with Guisborough Town in the future when circumstances allow.”
Gary added: “Guisborough Town is an absolutely brilliant club with brilliant people and supporters and one I’ll always be proud to have represented and been a part of.”
