Update Regarding the Project of Fencing the Outside Pitches Adjacent to Guisborough Town Football Club

Guisborough Town Football Club is supported and operated by many willing volunteers. The aim of this project is to provide good quality grass pitches for both junior and adult football within the community.

Guisborough Town Football Club have carried out all necessary due diligence, including working closely with the Local Authority to obtain planning permission for the proposed fencing, as well as securing consent from Fields in Trust for the erection of a fence around the designated area.

We have been fortunate to receive tremendous support from the Guisborough community, whose fundraising efforts have enabled us to move forward with plans to enclose the land adjacent to the club. This development will provide both the community and the football club with access to upgraded playing surfaces in a safe and secure environment.

In collaboration with the Local Authority, we have prepared a draft lease that encompasses both the existing leased area and the adjacent land designated for the outside pitches. This agreement is almost finalised.

While Guisborough Town Football Club holds planning permission and has approval from Fields in Trust to erect the fence, we have recently been made aware of an emerging issue between the Local Authority and Fields in Trust regarding the disposal of land at the King George V (KGV) site.

Given this unresolved issue, we believe it would be unwise to proceed with spending the funds raised for the fencing until a clear and final resolution has been reached.

Please rest assured that the funds raised are ring-fenced within the club and will not be used for any other purpose until this matter is resolved.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Local Authority and Local Councillors who are supporting this project. Their efforts are helping to ensure that the development not only enhances football opportunities but also provides the wider community with access to safe, high-quality playing surfaces.

We are also deeply grateful to our dedicated staff and volunteers for their tireless work in making Guisborough Town Football Club the inclusive and community-focused organisation it is today. Their ongoing efforts positively impact many individuals throughout our area not just with football opportunities but with teamwork, social and interpersonal skills.

Lastly, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our Sponsors, Guisborough community and all our supporters. Your continued encouragement and generosity make initiatives like this and many others possible.

We will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available.
