Coaches v Coaches match raises over £4.000 for Hospice
Guisborough Town’s second annual ‘Coaches v Coaches’ match on Saturday 10th may 2025 at the Kevin Edward KGV proved a huge success, with an amazing amount of over £4,000 in much-needed funds raised for the Priorymen’s current chosen charity, Teesside Hospice.
For Guisborough Town Chairman Andy Willis – the beaten team manager in last season’s inaugural Coaches game – it was sweet revenge winning 2-1 this time around.
It gave Andy welcome bragging rights over last year’s victorious team manager, Laura Whittaker, who has teased Andy mercilessly over the past 12 months.
Obviously, the game itself of secondary importance to the main aim of raising money for charity and this year’s club beneficiary, Teesside Hospice.
Julie Burniston, Head of Corporate Development at Teesside Hospice, commented:
Everyone at the Hospice is absolutely thrilled with this amazing amount raised by Guisborough Town at their annual Coaches v Coaches match. The support of our local community is vital to us and we are deeply thankful to everyone at Guisborough Town on what was a very hot day. We look forward to many more months of fruitful collaboration with the Guisborough Town.
Andy Willis commented:
This second annual Coaches v Coaches match was our first real opportunity to raise much-needed funds for Teesside Hospice, who are our chosen Charity for the whole of next season so we hope this is just the start. We’re delighted that the event on Saturday was such a huge success all round and I’m very grateful to all our supporters, volunteers and the players who turned up in force to make it yet another day to remember at Guisborough Town, underlining our involvement and support for the local community.
I was proud that it was my own ‘Team Andy’ who won the game 2-1 against ‘Team Laura’ – but really this was secondary to the main aim of the day which was raising as much money as possible for our charity partner Teesside Hospice.
