Rallying call for whole of Guisborough to get behind Priorymen for crucial finale to season

As excitement builds towards a thrilling finale to the 2025/26 Northern League Division One season, rallying calls have rung out for the whole of the Guisborough area to really get behind the Priorymen in their last six games of the season – starting with the final home game against Crook Town tomorrow (Saturday, 21 March, KO 3pm).

And the game against Crook will be something of a carnival occasion, being designated as one of the Club’s highly-regarded ‘Juniors Days’ when many Guisborough’s young Junior players will be in attendance at the Kevin Edward KGV Stadium to give both teams a Guard of Honour as they take to the field.

Guisborough Manager Nathan Haslam is concentrating on keeping his team with feet firmly on the ground and focussing no further than the next game in the fixtures list.

After the really hard-fought 1-1 midweek draw at Teesside neighbours Thornaby, Nathan commented:  “Ahead of our next match against Crook, our players need to rest, recover and prepare properly for it.

“Obviously, it’s our last home game so it’s a big thing for us.  We’ve had a great season at home throughout the season and we want to finish on a high for the club and our supporters but we’ve just go to treat it as another team coming to the KGV to try and take points off us and we’ve just got to be ready for it.

“Moving forward, this last home game is our sole focus really and I’ve said to the lads in the changing room tonight after the Thornaby game not to think any further than the next game.  It will undoubtedly be a tough game against Crook and we’ve got to be right on our mettle to go out there and win the game,” added Nathan.

Guisborough Town Captain Callum Martin has been involved with the club for a mind-boggling 25 years now and he says it’s always been the town and the fans that have helped make the club the thriving entity that it is today.

He commented: “As we approach the final few games to conclude what is shaping to become an historic and memorable season for Guisborough Town, the unwavering and consistent support from our brilliant fans has become more important than ever.

“We feel very proud to have one of the highest home attendances of any team in the league.  So it’s very rewarding for us to be able to give back something to the fans who have watched us consistently over this season and in fact for many seasons before.

“We are very grateful to those fans who stand outside even in bad weather to watch and support us no matter what the result turns out to be in the end. Having been first involved with Guisborough Town over 25 years ago now. It has always been the fans and the town that have made the Club what it is today.

“I’m sure I’m speaking for the rest of the lads in the team and the squad when I say that is what motivates us – the fantastic support we receive is so important to us all.

“We really do hope to see as high an attendance as possible at the KGV for this final home game of the season and hopefully as many of them as possible at the remaining away games to come, added Callum.”

Over 25-years in Red & White (mostly!), Callum Martin praises the fans who “have made the Club what it is today”.

Meanwhile, Guisborough Town Chairman Andy Bell re-emphasised everything that has already been said about how important the support of people in the local Guisborough area and beyond has been, particularly this season.

He commented that the Club stands on the cusp of achieving something very special in its history this season.

He continued: “As Chairman of the Club, I would personally like to encourage as many people as possible in the Guisborough area to really get enthusiastically behind Guisborough Town and come to the final home league game of the season against Crook Town on Saturday. I think both regular and new fans will be very impressed with what we have on offer.

“We are also always on the lookout for people and businesses who will sponsor and support us in a variety of ways which can be viewed on our club website and X account.

“Following the Crook game we have five successive away games in the final run-in to the end of the season, so we hope our ever-loyal fans and Club volunteers will go to as many of those games as they can to cheer our lads on.

“As our Club Captain Callum Martin has already said, the players really appreciate the backing of our fans and with all those away games on the trot that support will be more important than ever.

“But first let’s start tomorrow by filling the KGV Stadium and pushing together for promotion,” added Andy.
