Match Report

Ladies Maintain Pressure at the Top of the Table

Guisborough Ladies travelled to a windy Redcar yesterday searching for another three points to keep pace with the League leaders and maintain their title charge.

Playing with the wind in the first half, Guisborough knew they had to take advantage.

They did just that in the 18th minute where Emma Walton (sponsored by Andrew & Amy Bell) beat her man to the ball and played a pass over the top for Paige Davis (sponsored by Laura’s Sparkle and Shine) to lob over the home keeper on the half volley.

It was then Lyla Paisley (sponsored by TNT Fitness) who made it two with a winding run from the half way line ending in a strike from the edge of the box into the top left corner.

Half Time: Redcar Athletic Ladies 0-2 Guisborough Town Ladies

Guisborough were against the wind in the second half but managed to contain the Redcar threat going forward with another great performance from the back line, and Maddie McCormick in goal was equal to any shots that did come her way.

It was still mostly Guisborough possession in the second half and they had a few chances of their own, but ultımately just had to see the game out and they did that and kept their clean sheet in tact.
